The Shipwreck of the Peter Iredale

Along the northern Oregon Coast, the remains of the Peter Iredale have stood against the Pacific for more than a century.

The four-masted British sailing ship ran aground on Clatsop Spit near the mouth of the Columbia River in October 1906. All 27 people aboard survived, but the ship was never recovered. Over time, the ocean, wind, and sand have reduced the once massive vessel to the weathered remains that still rest on the beach at Fort Stevens today.

Captured in July 2026, this fine art series focuses on what more than 100 years on the Oregon Coast have left behind—the rust, structure, texture, and changing landscape surrounding one of Oregon's most recognizable shipwrecks.
